Celebrating a very important anniversary
This newsletter's! Did you think it was something else?
A very happy 4th of July to Hollyweird and only Hollyweird! Today marks 52 weeks of the newsletter, and I just wanted to say thank you very much to everyone out there who has chosen to subscribe and go on this journey with me.
It really means a lot that I’ve been able to publish my thoughts about the business and the creative, and get to hear from all of you what’s been helpful, what’s been insightful, and what’s been demystifying about this crazy crazy town.
I have some exciting ideas for Hollyweird Year Two that I can’t wait to share with you all, but those will unfortunately have to wait until next week. In honor of the newsletter’s birthday (and only in honor of that, nothing else) I’m going to share here some of my personal favorite pieces that I’ve written over the last year. If you’re new here, maybe you’ll dig them. If they’re old to you, so be it. This is still, technically, a national holiday.
While we’re on the subject, I vote we convert July 4 to exclusively be a celebration of this newsletter. So consider every firework a commemoration of Hollyweird, or do what I’m doing and boo after every single one goes off.

I hope it isn’t too controversial to say that things are more fucked up now than ever, and I hope you get at least a bit of rest and recharge and some sort of reprieve from the psychic violence of living in America.
Here are some timeless and evergreen pieces on writing, rewriting, the process, and my thoughts about the process, if you feel like really digging back into the founding documents of this Great Newsletter.

See you all next week with a kind of state of the union for Hollyweird and some exciting plans for the future!
🥳
To another amazing year!
Happy birthday Hollyweird! Looking forward to year two!
