The question at the end is the one I needed to hear. What would you do if pitching weren’t an option? Write. ✍️ yep

OMG SO HAPPY TO FIND ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL WRITER TELLING IT LIKE IT IS WITH PITCH DECKS! They’re pointless!

I absolutely love this advice. I’ve lost so much time pitching things that went absolutely nowhere & wishing I’d just tried to write or make the thing (or a version of the thing) I was pitching.

Do you distinguish strongly between a pitch deck and a treatment? I make treatments for shorts and am planning to do one for my feature, if for no other reason than communicating vision with cast and crew, but I hope it will also serve as a pitch deck for financiers too (we’re talking low budget indie)

I think you're best served when every different audience is getting a different deck. The deck I'd share with producers is different from what I'd share with financiers, is different from what I'd share with actors. Extra work but means everyone is getting the right document for what you're trying to convince them of.... I think Kristen Tepper is like the Queen of Decks so if you aren't already subscribed to her newsletter I'd highly recommend. https://ktepper.substack.com/
